Technology companies drove office leasing demand, took up 58% space in 2015

IT/ITeS companies took up around 58% of total office space leased in 2015, says a report by property advisory firm Colliers International.

“The large requirements typically demanded by technology firms in India mean that the types of buildings required have large floor plates, uninterrupted power supply, ample parking and amenities like cafeterias and gyms. In India there is a greater focus on space efficiencies, but there is also a stronger drive to create environments that are attractive to highly creative and typically younger employees,” Surabhi Arora, Senior Associate Director, Research at Colliers India.

In India, Bangalore, Pune and Gurgaon are the preferred locations among tech occupiers, primarily because of the ability to attract talent and the ability to access Grade A buildings at affordable rents.
