Sound Garden inaugurated at IME

The Indian Music Experience, India’s first hi-tech interactive music museum, supported by Brigade, opened its Sound Garden and Café on 29th July 2017. The Sound Garden was inaugurated by Shri Ananth Kumar, Union Parliamentary Affairs Minister and the Café was inaugurated by Shri Priyank Kharge - Karnataka State Minister for IT and Tourism. Shri Dinesh Gundu Rao - Working President of the Karnataka Congress Committee was the Chief Guest and the event was presided by Dr. Pappu Venugopala Rao, Secretary of the Madras Music Academy and Chairperson of IME’s Content Advisory Committee. The Sound Garden is an open area outside the museum comprising ten unique musical sculptures, which have been co-created by SVARAM Musical Instruments and Research in Auroville, Pondicherry and Foley Designs of Bengaluru. These large outdoor musical instruments are made from different materials such as wood, metal and stone and enable visitors to experience music as sound and vibration.

The day was marked by a series of performances and events which were preceded by a performance on the Sound Garden instruments by SVARAM from Auroville and followed by a band performance by saMcara - an alternative lyrical band, folk dances by Bhramari Dance Repertory led by Sneha Kappanna, contemporary dance by Aayana Dance Company, Kamsale by Lingaiah and performance on hand pans by Muki Sablania.
