Converting an Under-The-Flyover Space into a Crossover Park!

In association with The Ugly Indian, Brigade has helped spruce up various areas in Bengaluru for many years now. Our earlier efforts include Mukunda Flyover, Race Course Flyover, Yeswanthpur Railway Station and Sandalwood Metro Station, to name a few. Our latest endeavour was the rejuvenation of the space below the Kodigehalli flyover on the Outer Ring Road. The area is adjacent to a railway crossing point, providing multiple crossovers for multi-modal transport. Although it is a vast and ample space below the flyover, it was lying unused and abused for a long time.

Crossover Park

The team used bold motifs in white on a dark blue background to act as reflectors on the ceiling. This pattern illuminates in the dark with the mounted floodlights on the sides. The rest of the ceiling is light blue with a tinge of green, which mainly reduces the darkness all around. This is the first decorative wide-ceiling on a flyover in the city. We also involved railway authorities to reclaim the footpaths adjacent to the railway track, repaired footpaths and provided a compound for the railway track to prevent people from dumping their garbage. With the help of BBMP, we included this spot as a daily monitoring spot for SWM marshals and we are happy to report that the dumping of garbage and littering has stopped on this stretch. The ugly and abused space has been transformed into a liveable space and there is more to come in Phase 2.
