A Few Thoughts
Last few months have been tumultuous to the world order. As if the ongoing four-year Russia-Ukraine war is not enough, Israel and the United States have waged a war on Iran, resulting in destabilizing the world to a greater degree. The West Asia war has created havoc in the middle eastern countries, apart from several countries who depend on petroleum oil, particularly India. Our leaders have to intensify the efforts to reduce dependence on imported oil by increasing green power generation and by successfully identifying more sites for oil exploration. The on-again, off-again war has made many economies very volatile and has resulted in huge uncertainty for businesses and industries, apart from pushing up cost of living to the citizens across the world. As non-players in this ongoing mindless war, we Indians can only hope and pray for normalcy to return soon.
The victory of Sri Joseph Vijay's TVK party in Tamil Nadu elections has demonstrated the power of the younger generation and the impact social media can make to decide/influence the electoral outcomes. Their importance was reinforced with the sudden popularity of the CJP (Cockroach Janta Party) to express dissatisfaction of Gen Z on NEET question paper leaks and its aftermath.
Another major disruption is expected from the quick adoption of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in academia, business, government, industry, research establishments – for that matter in all sectors including in our day-to-day life. The popularity of ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini and similar services is going up by leaps and bounds. No one can predict its negative impact, while all of them have huge positive benefits by revolutionizing the way we think and work.
I hope and wish the Indian software services industry will quickly adapt and strategize to continue their super success story of the last quarter century. The software sector has immensely contributed directly and indirectly to the growth of the Indian economy in the new millennium. Indian real estate sector's fortune is also tied to the continued growth of the software sector.
A cause for worry is the impending drought situation in many parts of India, particularly in Karnataka. Unfortunately, monsoon is deficient by 20-60% in several parts of the country. Hoping that the water levels in KRS dam improves substantially to avoid a drinking water crisis in Bengaluru, and also to avoid water sharing dispute with our important neighbour Tamil Nadu.
After much effort, we have been able to launch few marquee projects – Brigade Stellaris in Chennai; Brigade Belvedere in Bengaluru; Brigade Misty Greens in Mysore; a premium residential project in Hyderabad, and a large mixed-use project in Bengaluru East should also get launched in this quarter.
Brigade Group will be completing 40 years in business on October 10, 2026. It is time to reflect on the past and strategize on what the next 10 years should be. I would like our team of Brigadiers to continue to do business keeping our corporate values in mind – QC-FIRST (Quality, Customer Centricity, Fairness, Innovation, Responsible Socially and Trust). This approach should yield consistent positive results.
Wishing all readers warm greetings of the festival season.
